Rest in Peace, Jory Greene

It is with shock and sadness that I bring you this news.

This morning I received an email from Doug Johnson that Jory Greene had passed away.

Jory was one of the kindest, most genuine individuals that the NorCal Series has ever known and his absence will leave a hole in the heart of disc golf in Northern California.

There will be a memorial benefit in Vacaville, scheduled for April 1st, to establish a fund for his family to help with expenses. Download the flyer here.

Please keep Jory’s family in your thoughts.

Fly high and free, my brother.

  1. Jory was always one of my favorite faces to see at NorCal tournaments. Whenever he could attend an event I knew that he’d give his best effort not only to play his best game–but that his commitment to sportsmanship would raise the bar for all the players.

My favorite memory of Jory came in 2004 at the San Francisco Safari when we were playing together and Jory aced a hole on the West course. It was a downhill slow-turning midrange shot and it was in the whole way. Everyone paid him for that one–including the spectators tagging along.

Jory, you’ll be on my mind whenever I play disc golf. I’ll really miss you buddy.

  2. I’m very sad.
I have only positive memories of Jory. When I saw his truck at tournaments, I said, ” cool Jory is here” and always smiling! You could never tell what score he shot. His mood was consistent…bright and funny. Then he would pull his BBQ of his truck and start grillin burgers and hotdogs. A cold beer in one hand…a spatula in the other. “what can I gat ya?”, he would announce.
    Yep…that is Jory.

I can just see him how.

  3. I count myself lucky to have played with Jory in a couple of tournaments. He was a great person to be around and always quick with a smile. My heart and prayers to his family.

  4. This really sux. I checked my email just b4 leaving work today and had a message from Doug about Jory and the upcoming tourney. I met Jory in Vacaville when he was still using a regular frisbee to play golf, gave him his first disc and he was beating the crap outta me in no time. Damn dude you will be missed. Adriane, Jordan and Jacob my prayers are with you. CYA all in Vacaville on 4-1
