San Diego’s Micah Dorius led by one after the first day of competition. Afterwards, he said “De Laveaga is the hardest place to hold on to a lead.”
One day later he proved it could be done. Micah Dorius held on for a one stroke victory over current World Champion and hometown hero, Nate Doss.
Micah claims the California State Open Champion crown for the southern half of the state for at least a year.
Speaking of hometown heros. Carrie “Burl” Berlogar, takes the Women’s California State crown. Edging out Grass Valley’s Kathy Manley by three strokes.
Late entry Robbie Wilson destroyed the Master’s field by 7 strokes and yet another Santa Cruz favorite, Dave LeVan wins the first of what will surely be many California State Grandmaster Champion titles.
Thanks to all who made the trip!
